PJM 2022 Interactive Annual Report

For over a decade, The Munroe Agency has proudly collaborated with PJM Interconnection, a prominent Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), overseeing wholesale electricity across 13 states and the District of Columbia. As their trusted agency partner, we handle everything from conceptual ideation to creative direction, design, and development of their annual report.

The 2022 interactive report embraced the theme of "momentum" through innovative design elements and functionality. It employed a horizontal scroll format and occasional hijack scroll, introducing dynamic movement into the background elements. This approach effectively segmented content and enhanced the narrative flow, ensuring an engaging and impactful user experience.

My Role

As a Digital Art Director, I played a critical role in both the creative and technical execution of the project. I was responsible for conceptualizing and executing two distinct prototype designs using Sketch. This process involved collaborating closely with developers and art directors to ensure the designs aligned with the overarching theme while optimizing for seamless, innovative user experiences. Once the client selected this concept, I took on the task of delivering a fully interactive prototype. This included incorporating long-form content, data visualizations, and micro-animations to enhance engagement and functionality, ensuring a smooth, dynamic user interface.

Theme Logo Exploration

Prior to launching the interactive report, we developed a theme logo that served as the foundation for the website's design. The logo featured slanted bars of increasing thickness, symbolizing the concept of building inertia. The typeface, Transducer, echoed this motif with a combination of thin and heavy weights, strategically spaced for maximum visual impact.
